The laser technology can be integrated into practice of prosthodontics making use of their effects on dental materials, soft tissues and hard tissues. The literature comprises a broad range of application of lasers on dental materials and indicates that many successful applications of this still developing technology can be used to facilitate and/or improve dental procedures.
Porcelain laminate veneers (PLVs) are steadily increasing in popularity among today’s dental practitioners for conservative restoration of unaesthetic anterior teeth. Step by step digitally designing the final restoration, preparation of soft tissues for esthetics by contouring the gingiva by using lasers are easy. Soft tissue recontouring with lasers increases the success of the final PLV restoration.
This presentation summarizes the advantages of laser applications in achieving perfect esthetics in prosthodontics in the light of current literature and case presentations.
